Leighton King is an experienced entrepreneur and the first American
to receive a Queen's Award for Technological Achievement. He is now
a naturalized UK citizen and works a professional Innovation Consultant.
Leighton has had a long association with universities as an MBA
examiner and a wide experience in industry. He has worked with
companies like Motorola, Blue Square, and Sage to help them turn
ideas into successful products and services.
He has a background in data communications and electrical engineering.
A founder member of Bovey Climate Action and is head of the Defined
Projects Group. Current projects include the development of Community
Power Networks and working with the engineering group Arup on the
Bovey Power Company feasibility study.
He is a qualified Yachtmaster and enjoys sailing in his spare time.
Dr Eirene Williams CEnv MIEEM was a lecturer in Rural Resource
Management at Seale-Hayne for 20years. Prior to that she had
posts at the University of Exeter, and the University of Malawi.
In addition she ran a beef enterprise on the edge of Dartmoor for
30 years and has considerable experience of the interface between
farming and the environment. Currently she is lecturing part-time
at Duchy College, acting as Vice-President of the Institute of Ecology
and Environmental Management and as chair of the Devon Farming
and Wildlife Advisory Group, and is a governor of North Devon College.

Dr Martin Bloxham is a prominent UN consultant who has worked
around the globe on environmental and sustainable development
projects in places as diverse as Lake Chad, the Rio de la Plata and
the Black Sea.
He has been involved in a range of successful international and national
research projects for organisations such as the United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP), the Global Environment Facility
(GEF), United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO),
the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the International Atomic
Energy Agency (IAEA), the Irish Marine Institute and the UK Department
for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), and has developed a
network of high level contacts.
His overall role as lead consultant in these processes is to deliver high
quality, cost effective technical and policy documents, and facilitate
and advise the respective regional senior scientific and policy experts
on how to manage major international water bodies in an environmental
and sustainable manner. The role requires significant diplomatic skills,
an ability to work in a stepwise manner to tight deadlines and the
capability to pull disparate groups of individuals into coherent
management structures.
Over the past ten years, he has been involved in a number of successful
research and commercial funding bids in the region of £3.5 million.
Victoria Whelan is a Multimedia Artist, Musician and Event Co-ordinator
Performing as JOYAAA throughout the UK since 1996.Equally known for the Joy of Singing Workshops, encouraging many not only to sing but engage in their creative process. With her partner she runs the Blue in Green Studios on Dartmoor and have produced over 30 albums in the
last seven years. As multimedia artist she works as graphic designer JOYART Design and more recently producing dvds, documentaries
and music videos.
Victoria has lived on Dartmoor for 14 years, though back in Australia
she trained in Arts Theatre at Queensland University; worked as a
co-ordinator and performer for Organisations like Northern Territory
University (Activity Officer), NT Trades and Labour Council MayDay
Events, Browns Mart Community Theatre, and Ausmusic.

awareness fundraiser Gets you in the mood for a new way of living
Iain Beath is a consultant and developer of Renewable Energy
throughout the South West of England.
A science graduate with a masters in Computer Science he has
spent several years as an IT consultant involved in scientific and
commercial applications.
A long term passion for the environment and concern about climate
change drew him back to studies in Renewable Energy and
Environmental Ethics after which he co-founded Renewable Power Ltd.
which is involved in development of wind farms and consultancy in
all aspects of renewable energy.
He has been deeply involved with the Milverton Climate Challenge
Group, a community and Eco-School which are seeking to reduce
their carbon footprint.
In spare time he enjoys high octane sports such as mountain biking
and plays the saxophone.
Alistair Macpherson is an environmental planner currently working
for Plymouth City Council leading on sustainable construction,
renewable energy, flood risk, biodiversity conservation, strategic
environmental assessment and sustainability appraisal.
Alistair is providing voluntary support to the project because of
its potential to address the need for a massive step change in
the skills, knowledge & organisational capacity to deliver
climate change solutions.
